About the event
This Nature-Assisted EMDR Intensive introduces an emerging framework for integrating EMDR with nature-based therapeutic practices, recognizing nature not simply as a setting for therapy, but as an active therapeutic partner and Co-therapist in the healing process.
Drawing from trauma-informed care, attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, experiential psychotherapy, ecopsychology, and EMDR, participants will explore how intentional engagement with the natural environment can support regulation, resource development, processing, integration, resilience, and transformation.
For most of human history, people lived in close relationship with the natural world. Nature-Assisted EMDR invites clinicians to reconnect with this foundational human experience and consider how the sights, sounds, rhythms, movement, metaphors, and sensory experiences of nature can become woven into the EMDR therapeutic process.
This intensive is designed as both professional training and personal retreat. Participants will not simply learn about Nature-Assisted EMDR—they will experience it. Through guided forest experiences, movement, bilateral stimulation, reflective practices, metaphor, resourcing, and clinical processing, clinicians will develop practical ways to bring nature into EMDR work with children, adolescents, adults, families, and groups.
Training will be led by Elizabeth Pennington, LPC-S, RPT-S, APT Approved Provider #22-668, EMDRIA Approved Advance Training Provider, and Certified Forest Therapy Guide.
This intensive offers a total of 12 CEUs.
