Preparation Intensive
EMDR is an 8-phase protocol that begins with history-taking and preparation. These phases are the focus of your EMDR Intensive—work that often takes 2–3 months of weekly sessions, condensed into one focused weekend.
This intensive includes two- to four-hour sessions over two or three consecutive days at The Woodlands Basecamp. For child and adolescent intensives, parents are active participants; both parents are encouraged to attend. Individual adults may bring a support person.
During your intensive, you can expect to:
- Connect in person and establish a relationship with your therapist
- Discuss your history and treatment goals
- Gain essential tools in preparation for EMDR processing
- Develop EMDR resources needed to process difficult memories
Following your intensive
You can continue EMDR therapy in person or via telehealth anywhere in Texas—including from home for individual family members age 8+. Or consider a follow-up Processing Intensive.
