Trauma / EMDR Therapy

Rewire what still hurts

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing for attachment and childhood trauma, anxiety, OCD, and recent event trauma—so your mind and body can actually feel safer, not just perform better.

Therapy for Adults

How we support you

Paced and collaborative

EMDR that fits you

EMDR helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they feel less overwhelming. We follow standard protocol with flexibility for your nervous system and life context.

When sitting still is hard

Nature-assisted EMDR

For some adults, outdoor EMDR and walk-and-talk reduce dissociation and restlessness—using movement and nature as part of bilateral stimulation.

Childhood to recent events

Across the lifespan

We treat attachment wounds, medical and religious trauma, betrayal, grief, and single-incident trauma—with safety planning always first.

Compassionate trauma therapy and EMDR support

Trauma therapy

You do not have to do this alone

Many adults arrive feeling stuck, hypervigilant, or numb. Therapy focuses on stabilization and resources first, then processing when you are ready. Our clinicians are trained in EMDR and trauma-focused, attachment-informed care.

EMDR safety, preparation, and processing

How EMDR works here

Safety, preparation, processing

Trauma treatment at Happy Camper typically follows:

  • History and readiness assessment with clear informed consent
  • Stabilization skills and resources before processing
  • EMDR phases with pacing you control
  • Integration between sessions so gains hold in daily life
  • Option for intensives or nature-assisted sessions when appropriate

We never rush processing—your nervous system sets the timeline.

Who trauma / EMDR is for

Especially helpful when

  • Past experiences still trigger strong body or emotional reactions
  • Talk therapy alone has not shifted core beliefs or flashbacks
  • You want EMDR with a clinician who understands attachment and family systems
  • You are curious about nature-based or intensive EMDR options

Specialized trauma formats

Nature-based EMDR and multi-day EMDR intensives live under Specialized Experiences when you are ready for those options.

Trauma-informed intake for EMDR therapy

What to expect

Your trauma-informed intake

We discuss your history at the pace you choose, explain EMDR clearly, and outline what preparation looks like before any processing begins.

You can ask about combining office EMDR with our nature-based program or EMDR intensives—we will recommend what fits your goals and safety.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy designed to help people recover from trauma, anxiety, and distressing life experiences.

Through bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements), EMDR helps the brain reprocess painful memories so they no longer feel overwhelming. It is widely used for PTSD, but also effective for anxiety, grief, chronic stress, and negative self-beliefs.

  • We focus on nature-assisted EMDR and comprehensive child and family therapy—including play therapy, concierge mobile services, and experiential outdoor work when clinically appropriate.

Our clinicians have particular depth with trauma related to childhood and attachment, medical experiences, and religious or spiritual harm.

  • Many clients find us when searching for specialized, experiential care—not only traditional talk therapy in an office.
