Therapy for Kids & Families

How we support your family

How children heal

Play is the work

Young children process big feelings through toys, stories, and creative play—not long conversations at a table.

Our clinicians use evidence-based play therapy to support regulation, behavior, attachment, and trauma recovery.

Skills for home

Parents as partners

You are not left out of the process. Parent involvement is built into treatment planning, coaching, and monthly parent sessions.

We help you translate what happens in session into practical strategies that work in real life.

School · peers · family

Whole-child focus

We address meltdowns, school refusal, peer struggles, sleep, and changes at home—with care that honors your child’s temperament and history.

Child therapy session — Happy Camper

Child therapy

Licensed care that meets children where they are

Child therapy at Happy Camper is led by clinicians trained in play-based, EMDR, and trauma-informed approaches—including TBRI principles for families. When appropriate, EMDR integrates with play therapy so children can process difficult experiences in a developmentally safe way. Sessions may take place in our mobile play office, Basecamp, on nature trails, or telehealth when clinically appropriate. Every plan includes clear goals, parent communication, and ethical standards you can trust.

What we address

Support for the concerns families bring most often

Big emotions and dysregulation, oppositional behavior, anxiety, ADHD, depression, trauma and attachment wounds, grief, divorce, medical experiences, and school-related stress. We collaborate with parents and, when helpful, schools or other providers—always with your consent.

Child building regulation and confidence in therapy — Happy Camper

Outcomes families notice

More regulation, connection, and confidence

Children often show improved emotional vocabulary, flexibility, and willingness to try new coping skills. Parents report clearer routines, fewer power struggles, and a stronger sense of “we can get through this together.” Progress takes time—and we pace treatment for lasting change, not quick fixes.

  • Play therapy is a developmentally appropriate counseling approach that helps children process big emotions, navigate relationships, and build coping skills using their natural language—play.

Rather than relying only on words, children use toys, games, stories, and art to express themselves. At Happy Camper, we use evidence-based play therapy techniques to support emotional regulation, behavior change, social-emotional learning, and trauma recovery.
