Family therapy

Structured care for the whole system

Family therapy at Happy Camper treats the family as the client—not just one child or one parent. Sessions are facilitated by licensed clinicians who balance warmth with clear boundaries, so everyone can participate safely. We integrate play-based techniques when children are involved, and adult-focused dialogue when teens or parents need space to be heard.

What changes can look like

Stronger connection at home

Families often describe more calm mealtimes, clearer expectations, and kids who feel safer asking for help. Parents feel less alone; children feel less responsible for adult problems. Change is gradual—we celebrate small wins and adjust the plan as your family grows.

How family sessions work

Collaborative, paced, and practical

Family therapy may include:

  • Joint sessions with parents and children (mix of ages welcome)
  • Occasional parent-only or child-only sessions when clinically helpful
  • Skill-building for regulation, listening, and problem-solving
  • Homework or rituals to practice between sessions
  • Referrals to individual or play therapy when a member needs deeper work

We discuss confidentiality with children and teens openly so everyone knows what stays private.

Who family therapy is for

A good fit when

  • Conflict at home is frequent and exhausting
  • A major transition is affecting everyone
  • You want children included in healing—not sidelined
  • Co-parents need a neutral space to align on parenting

Getting started as a family

Contact us for a consultation—we will help you decide whether family therapy, child therapy, or a combination is the best path.
